Crusader Great Helm w. brass cross
The great was used on the battlefields as early as the 13th century. Its design proved to be of advantage for foot and cavalry soldiers and was thuis used for almost for three centuries. It was worn commonly over a chainmail coif or skull cap. It has a fierce-looking fixed visor that enhanced the overall intimidating look of a knight charging towards the enemy. More information...
Crusader Great Helm with brass cross, 13th – 16th century
This version of this great helm is inspired by the statue from the Olite Cathedral dated mid of the 13th century. This kind of helmets were common in the time from mid -13th century until the beginning of 14th century as can bee seen in documents lik in the Codex Manesse, the Maziejowsky bible or the Cantigas.
