The type of gorget can be seen by the end of the 15th C. It represents a logical evolution of armour development. Combining a sallet with this gorget provides improved protection in comparison to a bascinet with aventail and visor. This kind of protection includes a rigid neck guard (yet articulated) offering a great protection and efficiency.
