The so-called Justaucorps or Justacorps first emerged in the 17th century as part of the military uniform and eventually found their way into civilian dress. Characteristic features of these particular coats are a close fitting front part, a flared back skirt and a dividing seam along the waist. It is assumed that the pirates first looted them from the genteel tradesmen and merchants and ultimately made them a customary part of their own wardrobe. More information...
Pirate's Coat Gabin, Justaucorps
This pirate's coat is made of sturdy cotton canvas and fully lined on the inside. Appliquéd trimmings, high-quality metal dome buttons, large cuffs and pockets with generously sized flaps give the coat that authentic pirate look. It is close fitting in the front, and the skirt is slightly flared in the back. Just combine it with plain cotton trousers, a medieval shirt and a wide leather belt, and you will get the perfect pirate costume.

How to find the right size: To take your body measurements correctly in order to determine you clothing size, please always wrap the measuring tape horizontally around your body at the fullest part. Sizes are based your chest girth for tops and hip circumference for trousers. If you happen to fall between two sizes, we recommend that you go up a size. Ease is included in the pattern and reflected in the finished measurements.
