This type of buckles containing a box shaped chape can be seen in some monumental brasses, suggesting a extended use withing the knigtly classes. The use for this kind of ornaments is increased during the 15th C, moment in which we can see many highly decorated survivors pieces. The IHC monogram is used because represents the name of Jesus Christ (Iesus Christos) being more commont after the merovingian era the IHS monogram. This set is completed with a matching chape for the end of the belt. Perfect for 1350 to 1500.
