Sword class B

The sword Levi was also called Bastard. The name of this sword has led to misunderstandings and misinterpretations. In reality, the sword is not unusual. It has a straight, long blade, a tapered handle and a conical pommel. Its nickname reflects its versatility, and among collectors it is generally better known as a one-and-a-half-handed sword. Although it could be wielded with only one hand, its handle was long and massive enough to be gripped with both hands. This allowed the warrior to amplify the effect of his blows and many believe it was in many ways one of the most effective and undoubtedly most versatile long bladed weapons ever created.

This replica of a sword from the second half of the 14th century is fitted with a forged blade. The forged, curved and flattened quillons are curved towards the blade and decorated at the ends with superimposed protrusions reminiscent of plant leaves. The hilt of the sword consists of a continuous blade tang lined with wood. The core of the handle is wrapped with a round leather strap with a diameter of 5 mm and a pair of twisted stainless steel wires. The pommel consists of an elongated bulb that allows it to be held with the other hand. This pommel also ensures excellent balance of the sword.

The blade is made of spring steel 54SiCr6. The steel is oil-quenched and tempered to a hardness of 54-56 HRC degrees. Blades made of this steel are very tough (resistant to breakage) and flexible at the same time.
