Roman Gladius
The Roman Gladius is perhaps the most well-known piece pf ancient weaponry. It´s simple and long, double edge blade which had a long point, made it an ideal stabbing or piercing weapon that could defeat the body armor of its day.
Cold Steel’s® interpretation is not a reproduction of a specific ancient Gladius, but is a collection of this venerable sword’s major features. The blade, for example, has the traditional shape, but, unlike the ancient version, is made from high carbon steel with a spring temper. It is fully sharpened on both edges and has a fine mirror polish. The point is long, but sturdy enough to resist bending or breaking. It also features a Rosewood grip, carved, and decorated in the classical style.
The wood scabbard is covered in black leather and accented with a throat, chape, and carrying rings made of solid brass.
