Children's Viking dress Solveig, red/burgundy
The loose-cut dress is made of solid cotton fabric (canvas) and comes with a fabric belt. Color-contrasting details make this dress something special. The slit neckline is worn open or closed with a fibula. The front and back are made of rectangular panels, while the middle and side have gussets (wedges) that give the hem enough space. Under the arm, a gusset (rectangular piece of fabric) is inserted. The solid canvas fabric (canvas) makes the dress sturdy and heavy and is therefore suitable for spring and autumn. The cut of the dress is based on archaeological finds dating back to the 9th and 10th century. Typical for this time are long dresses with cuts that were mainly composed of rectangles and triangles (geren), so as to consume as little material as possible. More information...

In Skjoldehamn, Birka and Haithabu fragments were found, the cut can be derived from. The dress is therefore an authentic garment for all Vikings reenactor girls.
