Medieval Italian Bellows Face Sallet Helmet with Padded Liner
This style of sallet is shorter than the classic German or Italian medieval sallet and was thus offering substantial protection to the neck and allowing the rider to use it without bevor if he wanted to. Historically, we thought that it was used by light and medium cavalry that needed a more convenient helmet than the heavy armet worn by the knights.
This helmet is handmade from 1.5mm thick mild steel lined with a comfortable and secure padded liner. An approximate circumference of 68cm makes it fit almost all head sizes. Sturdy chin strap with a brass buckle closure keeps the helmet secure during battle.
Note: This helmet is carefully preserved with oil before packaging. The thin layer of oil serves as a temporary protection against corrosion (rust). You can easily wipe off the oil with any oil remover or even a dry cloth.
