Italian Kettle hat, circa 1460, 1.6mm steel
The broad brim not only protects the head but also the shoulders, chest and back from any danger from above, such as the arrow fire of the late medieval archery. The brim and the crisscrossed steel bands are riveted to the helmet bowl. The bowl is made of two parts that have been welded together in the center. Although the materials thickness is "only" 1.6mm, the helmet can be considered as battle-ready.
