Umbo, Roman Shield Boss with Screws, Steel
The shield boss (so-called umbo) we offer here is the perfect accessory for ambitious re-enactors who wish to build their own Roman shield. It is for example ideal as a replacement or spare part for our Imperial Roman Legionary Scutum (product no. 1116385301), but is of course also perfectly suited for other DIY shield projects.
Our umbo is made of steel, blackened on the reverse side and features eight pre-drilled holes to affix it to your shield. Mounting hardware (screws with domed steel caps) is included in delivery.
Please note that the boss is not bent, so if it is to be mounted on a curved shield, it should be adapted to the curvature of the shield before assembly.
