Lübeck Arming Sword with Scabbard, 13th C.

This single-handed, double-edged sword, which shows the typical characteristics of the swords wielded by the Crusaders in the high Middle Ages, is a reconstruction of an Oakeshott type XII find dated to the13th century and kept at the St. Annen Museum in Lübeck, Germany. Although the original archaeological piece was heavily corroded upon its recovery, detailed examination revealed the high level of craftsmanship that its making required. One notable feature is its impressive length, which is rather unusual for one-handed swords of Type XII design. More information...

Lübeck Arming Sword with Scabbard, 13th C.

Our decorative, good value reproduction of this knightly sword has a broad, evenly tapering EN45 spring steel blade that is fullered on both sides about two thirds down its length. The edges are not sharpened, and the blade's full tang is peened to the pommel. The hilt is composed of a steel cross-guard, a wooden core grip wrapped in red brown dyed leather, and a disc-shaped bronze pommel crowned with a steel peen block.

This medieval one-handed sword comes complete with a red brown wood-and-leather scabbard that matches the grip wrap.

Please note that this medieval sword is not a battle-ready weapon. It is designed as a collector’s or decoration/display piece and is not suited for combat re-enactment. Besides its quality as a collectible, it is also perfectly suited as a prop, e.g. to complete your costume, and will make your transformation into a noble knight just perfect.
