Cylindrical Flat Top Helmet Pangratio, also called Calota - Outlet
This cylinder helmet from the early 13th century is reinforced with an iron spring on the front to protect the warrior's head more effectively. A wider visor, reaching a third of the helmet circumference, allows for a good view. The individual parts of the helmet are fitted to each other and riveted with a sufficient number of rivets for high durability. The reinforced oval bell, whose curved edges are riveted at the top, guarantees sufficient protection against cuts from above. A deep black patina develops on the surface of the helmet for an authentic look. The helmet has a fabric lining on the inside. More information...
Cylindrical Flat Top Helmet Pangratio, also called Calota
A helmet with a fixed visor from the first half of the 13th century was not very complex. A curved plate formed the back, the other with the visor the front of the helmet. The two were riveted together to form a cylinder wide enough to accommodate the warrior's head. The top of the helmet was terminated by a flat oval bowl riveted to this cylinder from below (or above) by means of a curved edge. The front longer part reaches under the chin. We see similar helmets on the illuminations of Veldek's Aeneid at the beginning of the 13th century. A helmet of this type is on display in the Koninklijk Nederlands Leger en Wapen Museum in Delft. A silver reliquary in Aachen Cathedral is also very clear evidence of the appearance and construction of such early forms of great helmets.
