Developed early in the 12th Century, the Great Helm became the mainstay of the medieval fighting man, and lasted for about 300 years. Worn over a mail coif and padding, this helmet has menacing, narrow eye slits for maximum protection. Dating back to the Middle Ages period of the Crusades comes this Crusader Helmet that is sure to satisfy. Their emblem was a cross, seen on the left from face plate of this Crusader Helmet. For nearly 300 years, you could have seen men on foot and horse wearing this type of helmet, sometimes over a mail coif, other times as standalone protection. More information...
