Authentic Craftsmanship for History Lovers
Part of the exclusive “Collection of Historic Armors,” this suit stands out for its superior craftsmanship. It is made from high-quality mild steel with a special “ancient patina” finish that provides a historical look while protecting the metal. The set includes a sturdy wooden lance with an engraved tip, an ornate red brocade skirt, and a stable wooden base. The armour features articulated (movable) parts, which adds to its realistic appearance.
Please note that this is a decorative item only. Although the armour looks very convincing, it is not intended for wearing or for contact sports such as HEMA or Buhurt. It is ideal as a centerpiece for halls, studies, or private museums.

Historical Context: The Golden Age of Tournaments
While the origins of protective armour date back to ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome, plate armour reached its peak at the end of the 15th and the middle of the 16th centuries. During this time, armour became not only functional protection but also a luxury status symbol. Tournament armours were specifically constructed for jousting, with thicker plates and specialized shapes designed to protect the rider from the impact of the lance. The inspiration for this model comes from the rich collection of the Royal Armoury in Madrid from the time of Charles I.
Care and Safety Instructions
To ensure your armour remains a stunning centerpiece for years to come, follow these care guidelines:
- Dust the plates regularly with a soft, dry cloth.
- Periodically apply a thin layer of protective oil for steel to prevent oxidation from ambient humidity.
- Do not place the armour in damp areas or near direct heat sources, which could damage the wooden base or fabric.
- Never attempt to wear the suit or engage in simulated combat—the structure is not designed for human movement, and there is a risk of injury or damage to the product.
To complete your historical collection, we recommend adding other Marto replicas, such as the swords found under Artikelnummer 113.1.
