18th Century Civilian Sword with scabbard

2x

This civilian weapon was developed during the Baroque period. It gradually replaced the rapier from the middle of the 17th century since there was a growing need for lighter and less bulky weapons. This is due to the increased population growth and the associated lack of space during this period. The sword was mostly carried by members of the upper social class. More information...

18th Century Civilian Sword with scabbard

The sword has a blade made of EN45 spring steel with a triangular cross section, which is not sharpened. The guard and the curved handguard are made of brass, with a wooden handle, which is wrapped with brass wire.

The sword sheath is made of leather-wrapped wood, with fittings and support rings made of brass and a hook for attaching the sword sheath to a belt.

According to the manufacturer (Deepeka, India), the blade is oil-quenched and tempered. But we have no information about the blade hardness. The blade tang is screwed at the end of the handle. Since we offer this sword as a decorative weapon, we have no information as to whether the blade breaks during combat or not.

  • Blade length: approx. 77.5cm

  • Including scabbard made of leather with brass fittings

A classic colchimarde dueling sword with a stunningly executed triangular hollow-ground cross section blade, and a beautifully turned brass and polished hardwood hilt assembly, all fitted right and tight. This is a must have weapon in any respectable arms collection, combining the best of elegance and deadly efficiency. This offering from Outfit4Events far exceeded my wildest dreams for quality and value.
