Awl Made from Genuine Polished Bone
Awls are used in sewing to force the weave of the fabric open to make an eyelet hole. Once the threads are spread open, stitches around the edge hold the hole open, forming an eyelet. Because the fabric is not cut, the eyelet is strong and resists ripping. More information...
Viking polished bone Awl
A must have for every sewing kit, these beautiful awls are made of polished bone and are a pleasure to behold and use. The smooth taper allows for any sized eyelet up to a full 1/4". Longer length is comfortable in the hand and incised lines create a positive gripping surface for precise placement of eyelets in any fabric thickness. Both sizes have holes which allow the awl to be hung from a chatelaine. Also a useful tool in lace making, embroidery and other hand crafts. Made from ethically sourced beef bone.
