Leather Bullwhip 240cm
The bullwhip consists of a handle with a solid core and a leather lash composed of a braided thong between. At the end of the lash is the "fall" and cracker or popper. When the cracker of the cord exceeds the speed of sound and causes a shock wave, a so-called acoustic crack occurs. The whip is therefore the first human instrument that can exceed the speed of sound.
The first whips date back to the Neolithic period and were used for hunting and cattle breeding. In ancient times, the whip was also used to punish and eventually torture people. During this time, the whip was also used as a tool to make people (slaves) work faster.
In the Middle Ages, the whip was used outside of agriculture, especially in shipping, to force galley drivers to perform better. The whip was also used to interrogate convicts.
