Medieval armour

The armour went through significant changes in the Middle Ages. A gambeson (quilted armour), with heavier armour on top became popular. The use of chainmail armour which damped the hits expanded. Common armour was also scale, lamellar and, in the later Middle Ages, plate armour. A part of the armour was also a helmet. Initially were used bucket helms, covering the entire face, leaving only cut-outs for vision and breathing. Later, the use of this helmet got reduced and helmets with Aventail and armets with opened vision entered the scene.
