Its depictions are still preserved most often in the form of statues, murals and illustrations on papyri. The centre of the cult of the goddess Bastet was the Lower Egyptian city of Pibaste, of which the goddess was the patron saint, it's today's city of Tell Basta in the Nile Delta.
