Vambraces, Cannons

Vambraces are forearm protectors. They protect sensitive and vulnerable areas from injuries. Metal vambraces were part of the armour. However, you'll often come across leather vambraces, which are mainly used by archers and crossbowmen. 13th century plate armour delayed the use of the shield. Only a small shield was used, and in the 15th century, when the left part of the armour was strengthened, the shield was no longer used at all. Vambraces were a part of the armour.
